This week, the Spanish artist Sebas Velasco opened his first solo exhibition in London entitled A New Error. The show presents 16 new works on canvas and wood which capture forgotten urban environments at night and into daybreak. Velasco’s style, with its aversion to idealism and the picturesque, contains references to the Realism of both Gustave Courbet, who was at the forefront of the movement in the 19th century, and his own compatriot Antonio López García. Four young contemporary urban artists – Sebas Velasco (Spain), Francisco Bosoletti (Argentina), Spok (Spain) and Luis Gómez (Venezuela), will be showing their distinctive works at Adda&Taxie in Paris from December 9th until January 27th. The Valencia-based Plastic Murs art gallery and print shop opened their most recent group show on November 3rd, showing works by five young Spanish artists – Aarón Duval, Iñigo Sesma, Jose Luis Ceña, Mikel Del Río and Sebas Velasco. Spanish artists Sebas Velasco & Iñigo Sesma, recently took part in the refreshing Graffiti Na Gradele festival on the scenic island of Brac in Croaita. The second edition of the event produced an impressive selection of fresh public pieces, showing the consistent and recognizable curatorial efforts with very few exceptions. On the 1st of April, the second edition of The Crystal Ship Festival officially started in the Belgian coastal city of Oostende. The launch of the event was marked with the arrival of the six meters tall Inflatable Refugee sculpture by Belgian art collective Schellekens & Peleman (seen above). We recently got an update from solidARTy.org that they are started another round of charity art auctions on their website. The project launched back in November by auctioning artworks donated by artists, galleries and studios, with 100% of the proceeds going to AreYouSyrious.org organization. So far they have raised over €20,000 for the cause and are now continuing their efforts by offering more original and rare, editioned work by world renowned street, urban and contemporary artists.
