Streets: World Roundup (Feb 6 – Feb 12)

This week’s featured wall for our street art roundup from around the world is a sweet collaborative piece between Austrian artist Nychos and the German-based old school legend Flying Fortress. This mother bear mural was created when Mr. Fortress stopped by Vienna for a visit and if you are interested, you can see more footage in a video here. Other work worth your time to take a look at include Cranio (Brazil), Nick Walker x SheOne (Paris), Nychos x Flying Fortress (Austria), REVOK (Detroit), Hyuro […]

Art Focus: Boa Mistura

Boa Mistura or “Good Mixture” is made up of five Spanish artists, Arkoh, Derko, Pahg, Purone and Rdick, who have developed their work in different fields including graffiti and mural painting, to graphic design and illustration. Collectively, they meld their talents together for various endeavors like this recent Participative Urban Art project in Vila Brâsilandia, one of the favelas in São Paulo. The intervention, with its 3D illusionary effect, focuses on “vecos” and “vielas” – winding streets that form as connections for the internal life […]

After a successful showing during Art Basel Week Miami, it looks like Nick Walker (interviewed) has been working on some new imagery featuring his resurrected vandal. Teaser: Vhils @ 18 Gallery (Shanghai)

It looks like Vhils (filmed) has been putting in work in Shanghai as he prepares for his show opening on March 31st at 18 Gallery (presented by Magda Danysz). Like JR before him, he’ll be introducing some of that European street aesthetic to the Chinese port city. Expect more photos to pop up soon as he has over a month to do some more damage to local walls. Another piece after the jump…

Streets: Retna (Los Angeles)

Even though he’s currently preparing for a show at Known Gallery this upcoming weekend with fellow 7th letter member ZES, RETNA took the time to hit the streets of Los Angeles again. Featuring his signature style and lettering, he finished his latest large scale mural in just a couple of days. This piece actually covers the front wall of the forthcoming  LALA Gallery, an upcoming space set up by L.A. Freewalls which will also be host tonight to a final mural ordinance meeting including Shepard Fairey […]

Streets: Shepard Fairey (Dallas)

Last week, Shepard Fairey (featured) brought the OBEY show to Dallas for a series of street murals at the request of the Dallas Contemporary. In conjunction with the project, the institution which is modeled after European kunsthalles or art centers also hosted PHENOMENON, a party with Shep providing the music as DJ Diabetic. To round out the event, a artist discussion, pop-up shop, and book signing were included as part of the festivities. Take a look at more photos by via Obey Clothing & dickdavid after […]

Art Focus: Peter Fuss

For our Art Focus this week, we turn our attention to Polish street artist Peter Fuss. In particular, we like his series of billboard takeovers and his take on social-political issues. No topic seems to be off-limit including the high-priced world of contemporary art, religion, turmoil in the Middle East, as well as more sardonic and witty items. Take a look at more examples of his work after the jump…

Streets: Anthony Lister (Los Angeles)

Last time we saw Anthony Lister in Los Angeles, he painted a mural (covered) based on the film The Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Now the Aussie artist is back in LA where he is preparing for his solo show at New Image Art (previewed). While here, he’s making the most of his time by also hitting up a Culver City location which is becoming a prominent mural spot for street artists as evidenced by walls from Herakut (covered), David Flores (covered), Cyrcle. (covered), Andrew […]
