Je Suis Paris

In the aftermath of the horrible attacks that happened on Friday 13th in Paris, the art community once again responded with what it does best – transferring the emotions and messages in an original visual form. Whether they are French or not, they all have some sort of special connection with the “capital of the arts.“ From Danish master of paper drawings and folds, Huskmitnavn (top photo), Paris-based Seth Globepainter who painted one of his kid characters writing Parisian motto “Fluctuat nec mergitur (Tossed but not sunk)”, to legendary mastermind behind the Obey […]

Releases: SHOK-1 // “X-Fly” Prints

British artist SHOK-1 recently released a series of X-Fly prints with Fruit, Bluebottle, and Fire variations. Mimicking his characteristic freehand x-ray spray technique from the streets, each of them are sized at 66 x 44 cm, limited to an edition of 50, and cost £140.00 with a discount if you buy all three as a set. The British artist further explains – “Like graffiti, flies are often perceived in a negative way but they can be very beautiful.” Discuss SHOK-1 here.

Streets: Shok-1 – “Dog With Bones” (London)

Recently in the heart of London, Shok-1 created a new mural entitled Dog With Bones, reinterpretation of one of Keith Haring’s iconic dog paintings. Using his signature x-ray spray technique, the latest effort from the British artist is part of his X-Pop series that takes a look inside popular icons and symbols. Take a look at more photos below… Discuss Shok-1 here.

Releases: Shok-1 – “The Consumer” Shirt

Those who follows Shok-1 and his distinctive work on the streets are no doubt familiar with his x-ray spray technique. One of the London-based artist’s most well received murals comes from last year when he merged his aesthetic with pop culture and painted a Pac-Man as it would look if it had bones. This image was later released successfully as a print and now will be silkscreened on limited edition shirts. This first collector’s run will cost £50.00 and come in an edition of 100. Head over here Thursday […]

Streets: World Roundup (Jul 7 – Jul 20)

A review of recent public works for our Streets World Roundup sees this new mural (seen above) from Shok-1 as one of the standouts. Entitled  The Consumer, the new piece makes a clever modification in the Pac-Man imagery that we are used to and again highlights the sublime translucent x-ray spraycan technique from the London-based artist. Other notable walls come from Know Hope x 2501 – Austria, Gaia – South Carolina, Cyrcle. – Poland, Borondo – UK, Aaron Li-Hill – New Jersey (source), Faith47 – […]

Streets: World Roundup (Dec 30 – Apr 13)

It’s been a while since our last Streets: World Roundup so it’s time to revive the feature where we share a summary of some recent art from the streets. Headlining things for us is a new piece from Italian street artist Blu in Niscemi, Sicily. Along with his signature style, his political views are also quite evident in this large impressive wall mural. Other worthy work comes from Olek – NYC (source), Gaia – Baltimore (source), Escif – Spain, Ludo – London (source), Aakash Nihalani – Italy, […]

Streets: World Roundup (Oct 28 – Dec 1)

It’s time for another roundup of street art around the world that we didn’t have a chance to cover in-depth. First up is a mural from Case in Erfurt, Germany for the OQ Paint project.
