Showing: Vhils – “Debris” @ HOCA Foundation (Part I)

As part of his solo exhibition with the HOCA Foundation in Hong Kong, Alexandre Farto aka Vhils (filmed) has prepped a special installation at the Terrace of Pier 4 in Central. The neon works were modeled after the ubiquitous lighted signage the Portuguese saw during his residency in Hong Kong, as well as images that he created from scratch. Castor Gallery in New York is currently running the last week of a solo show by Gregory Thielker. Between Here and Now features eight original hyperrealist works and a video installation showing examples of his Under the Unminding Sky or “windshield paintings” series that he’s been working on for the last decade or so. Currently in Beers London, new paintings collectively entitled Turning The Tide from Jenny Morgan are on view through April 23rd. The exhibition is the Brooklyn-based artist’s first solo in the UK and introduces her vivid portraits featuring her signature saturated color choices, paired with toned-down grays. Elms Lesters Painting Rooms in London are currently showing a small selection of new dimensional surface paintings on canvas by Adam Neate (interviewed). Heroes is an informal selection of new works created with a new approach that artist is currently developing. Upcoming: Kelsey Brookes @ Compound Project

Coming up on April 9th, Kelsey Brookes will be opening a new show in Malibu, California at Compound Project. The exhibition will feature a new series of works that feature his psychedelic abstract patterns and interest in scientific matters. Created in proportion to the growth of the Fibonacci sequence onto a surface shaped in proportion to the golden ratio, the new paintings look to take things to the next level. Andy Rementer is currently taking part in a double personal exhibition with Fulvia Mendini at Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea in Milan. San Francisco’s Spoke Art Gallery is currently running the last couple days of a solo show by Joan Cornellà. For his US debut, the Barcelona-based artist produced several original acrylics on canvas as well as a series of fine art giclee prints of his popular comics. Earlier this month, the POW! WOW! crew spent a second year (see 2015) at SXSW painting murals for festival goers to enjoy. Last weekend in Los Angeles, Kohn Gallery hosted the opening of Ryan McGinness second solo with them with a new body of work entitled #metadata. With this new showing, the New York-based artist presented a interesting installation featuring his distance imagery as well as two new series of works – Studio Views and Screen Combines. Armory Week ’16: Armory Art Fair

Earlier this month, New York City welcomed in the Armory Art Show. This annual event showcases some of the brightest names and current trends in contemporary art (@ Pier 94) with a portion dedicated to some of the classics from art history (@ Pier 92).
