Basel Week Miami ’14 / Previews: Thinkspace @ SCOPE

Thinkspace will be returning to SCOPE during Art Basel Week Miami with work from their extensive roster of artists. Along with mini-solo shows from Glenn Barr and Andy Kehoe, the Los Angeles-based gallery will be sharing new work from Adam Caldwell, Alex Yanes, BEZT, Brian M. On the 22nd of November, Daniel Arsham opened a special project at Pippy Houldsworth Gallery in London, introducing a single wall intervention titled Bound Figure. We’ve just received these image previewing the upcoming solo show by Icelandic painter Katrin Fridriks at Circle Culture Gallery in Berlin. Titled Stendhal Syndrome, this is her first solo show with the gallery in three years and its the closing exhibition of the year for the gallery as the works will stay on view all the way until February 14th 2015. The works and installations created for this show are mostly based on and inspired by the Stendhal Syndrome disorder, and are focused on infinite macro aspect of her abstract works. […]

Almost two years after her last show in New York, Nicoletta Ceccoli (interviewed) has unveiled new paintings at AFA NYC. Entitled Sweet & Low, the fresh body of work continues the exploration of her delicate female characters in a land of dessert. As seen commonly in the San Marino-based painter and illustrator’s work, the innocence of the setting is balanced by an undercurrent of dark themes seen when her imagery is examined more closely. Arrested Motion was on hand for the Saturday, November 8th opening of “Momentum”, the three person show featuring Mars-1, Oliver Vernon and Damon Soule at Space Gallery in Denver, Colorado. This Saturday night in Los Angeles, Nate Frizzell (interviewed) will be presenting all new paintings at CHG Circa entitled Dark Was The Night. Working primarily with a black background, the new perspective referenced in the title of the show provides a stark new background that really make his imagery pop. The fresh pieces will continue to feature his portraiture of children and different wild creatures as well as his familiar exploration of identity thru the use of costumes.
