Teaser: “Gin and Juice” @ Ivory & Black

Coming up on June 15th, the Ivory & Black Soho will be presenting their first group exhibition featuring artists Andrew Schoultz, Cleon Peterson, James Jean, Richard Colman and Ryan Travis Christian. Entitled Gin & Juice, the show features painters who hae been influenced by the Californian subcultures they hail from with diverse imagery ranging from the humorous, the macabre, the playful, the violent, to the idealistic.

ArtPadSF hosted its second annual boutique art fair over the weekend, which coincides with ArtMrkt and SFFAF. Unlike your traditional art fair with booths, this one takes over the Phoenix Hotel in the heart of the Tenderloin District in San Francisco with each gallery taking up their own room in the hotel, which gives a more laid-back pop-up gallery vibe. Preview: Melissa Cooke – “Surfaced” @ Koplin Del Rio

Culver City’s Koplin Del Rio will be presenting the second solo showing from Melissa Cooke at their gallery this Saturday night, May 19th. Entitled Surfaced, the new body of work comprising of powdered graphite on paper pieces explores the relationship between photography, painting and drawing in portraiture.
