Keith Haring @ Pace Prints

Over the weekend, an exhibition of prints and small scale multiples by Keith Haring closed in New York at Pace Prints. Haring believed in and was fascinated by the process of printmaking and in the course of his career produced over 60 limited editions on paper using a variety of methods including lithograph, silk-screen, etching, embossing and aquatint. Preview: “Ritual: New Works by Charmaine Olivia” @ Shooting Gallery

This Saturday, January 14th, The Shooting Gallery will be presenting a new body of work from Charmaine Olivia. Teaser: Kehinde Wiley – “The World Stage: Israel” @ The Jewish Museum of New York

Coming up in March, The Jewish Museum of New York will be hosting Kehinde Wiley’s works from The World Stage: Israel that showed last April at Roberts & Tilton (covered). The museum recently acquired Alios Itzhak (2011), a nine-foot tall portrait of a young Jewish Ethiopian-Israeli man that was part of the Los Angeles exhibition which featured traditional Jewish papercut embellishments from part of the NY institution’s collection. Openings: Haroshi x HUF x DLX (Los Angeles)

Over the weekend, Haroshi opened their joint project and show with HUF and DLX in Downtown Los Angeles. The collaborative effort with the Bay Area purveyor of skateboarding culture as well as distributor was a well curated affair as the Japanese artistic duo is known for their sculptures made from compressed used skateboards. Preview: Nicoletta Ceccoli – “Girls Don’t Cry” @ Roq La Rue

After a showing near her home country of San Marino at the end of 2010 (covered), gifted artist and illustrator Nicoletta Ceccoli (interviewed) will be putting her works on display in a more distant land – Seattle, Washington – come next Saturday, January 14th. Girls Don’t Cry at the Roq La Rue Gallery has the painter returning for her first showing there since 2009 and will feature delicate renderings of her girls of tainted innocence. Coming up on the 25th of this month, Scott Campbell will be opening his first European solo show at Galerie Gmurzynska’s Zurich location. We last enjoyed the tattoo specialist’s signature pieces fabricated from U.S. currency and ostrich eggshell paintings at his Marc Jancou Contemporary showing last year (covered), but it looks like the versatile artist has now added another medium to his repertoire. Teaser: “The Boneyard Project: Return Trip” @ Pima Air and Space Museum

On January 28th, a unique art event will open at the Pima Art and Space Museum in Tucson, AZ featuring the work of over 30 artists. Herakut @ HALLENKUNST

After finishing their project in Los Angeles painting segments of the Berlin Wall (covered), Herakut headed over to their home country to exhibit some of their painting skills in a pop-up show. HALLENKUNST was held in Chemnitz, Germany and seeks to highlight the growing urban art movement and public art scene. Videos: An Evening with Ron English @ MoMA

Ron English (featured) fans out there – tomorrow night (January 9th) if you head over to the MoMA in New York, you can spend an evening with the self-described “popoganda” specialist. The itinerary for the night includes Pedro Carvajal’s 2005 documentary feature Popaganda: The Art and Crimes of Ron English, a sampling of English’s recent moving image works, including the “Detroit project” from his ongoing video-posting series, and a discussion between Paper magazine editor Carlo McCormick and Ron.
