PULSE Los Angeles ’11: Joshua Liner Gallery

After giving you an overview of the inaugural PULSE Los Angeles fair earlier in the week, we now focus in on a couple of the individual booths. First up is New York’s Joshua Liner Gallery, who was mainly representing Kris Kuksi and his intricate assemblages, Greg Lamarche (interviewed) who worked on a mural for the event, and Dave Kinsey who also painted an impressive wall at the Standard while in town. A couple weeks back, the Artists for Haiti benefit auction racked in massive numbers to a standing room only, celebrity studded audience at Christie’s Rockefeller Center salesroom in New York. Nuart Festival ’11: Phlegm

Another great curatorial choice for Nuart Festival is rising star Phlegm, who traveled from his home base of Sheffield for this year’s event. For his part, he painted a nice mural on the side of a derelict building featuring his signature affection for all things airborne and also filled an entire room with his creatures and characters in a strange, almost evolutionary, lineup. Last week, Daniel Askill debuted his Los Angeles exhibition over at the Prism gallery, showing alongside David LaChapelle (covered). Entitled Three Rituals, the body or work centered around a variety of photographs and video installations that explore the thematic elements of vast empty spaces and how they relate and contrast with the lone individual.
