After a successful opening (covered) in Tokyo at Perrotin last week, KAWS dropped the second verse of his tour of Asia with a showing at the gallery’s Hong Kong location. Basel Week HK ’18 / Openings: Osgemeos – “Deja Vu” @ Lehmann Maupin

One of the highlights of Basel Week Hong Kong for local fans and out of town visiting collectors was a solo from Osgemeos at Lehmann Maupin. Entitled Déjà Vu, the vibrant new body of work features the surreal imagery from the twins that we have grown to love including influences from the golden age of hip hop and their life as vandals. Upcoming: Marion Peck – “StraVolti” @ Dorothy Circus Gallery (Rome)

Coming up at the end of next month (April 21st), Dorothy Circus in Rome will be opening a new solo from Marion Peck entitled StraVolti. Returning to show in the capital city for the first time in more than a decade, the American artist has prepared 11 oil paintings on canvas that mix her surreal imagery with inspiration from European art and cultural tradition. Openings: KAWS @ Galerie Perrotin (Tokyo)

Last night, AM stopped by the Tokyo branch of Galerie Perrotin to catch the opening of KAWS’ solo show, his first of two in Asia with Hong Kong coming up. Attended by his Japanese admirers (some from his Original-Fake days), international superfans, and the usual cast of locally-based artist friends, the opening showcased the Brooklyn-based artist’s newest pop culture character-based abstractions including a sweet Snoopy airplane shaped painting.Take a look at more photos from the opening reception below… Discuss this show here. ON THE MOVE, a new group show opened tonight at KIRK Gallery in Denmark featuring the work of Fintan Mcgee, Joram Roukes, Robert Proch, Christian Verginer, Telmo Miel (seen above), Wiley Wallace, James Bullough, Ratur & Sckaro and Wes21. The gallery in Aalborg is responsible for the Out in the Open project that has brought many muralists to the area including some who are included in this exhibition.
