Recap: Art Market San Francisco 2017

A couple weeks ago the seventh edition of Art Market San Francisco returned to the Fort Mason’s Festival Pavilion to the delight of collectors and art fans in the Bay Area. Featuring works from artists working with an international selection of 80 different galleries, the event looked to have something for everyone. The SWIM team will be opening on May 12th their most ambitious exhibition to date at The Luggage Store in San Francisco. Lil SWIM will be the continuation of their efforts to bring artists and other creative people together to connect, collaborate and showcase their work. Fashion: James Jean x Prada 2018 Resort Collection

Following up on his work with Prada in 2008 and other projects through the years, James Jean (interviewed) has collaborated with the Italian fashion house on part of their 2018 resort collection. Staged for the first time at the Fondazione Prada Osservatorio in Milan, the runway show featured the illustrator and visual artist’s imagery prominently on parkas, a pantsuit, dresses as well as many of the handbags. Previews: KAWS – “FAR FAR DOWN” @ Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis

Today at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, KAWS will be continuing his bevy of museum exhibitions with a new showing entitled FAR FAR DOWN. The Brooklyn-based artist has prepared a mural of his snoopy inspired black & white abstractions on CAM’s 60-foot long Project Wall, with the the work serving as a backdrop for three new paintings. From April 29th until May 18th, Giant Robot 2 welcomes back Mike Lee with another show of his unmistakable oils on paper, mylar and canvas. Rebound continues the body of work from his previous solo with the Los Angeles-based gallery, Repose, and is in particular focused on love.
