Back in the 90s, Ron English and Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada were pioneering the street art movement (that was not even conceptualized) with their own private clan of “art fux,” modifying billboard, street signs with clever adverts. DALeast went dark and dirty with his latest piece at this year’s Avant Garde Urbano festival. This 30′ x 60′ corner wrapped intertwined beast of a piece had one particular local screaming bloody murder, claiming it was a work of the devil while a handful of others graciously said it was just what this decomposing lot needed to breath some new life into its former shell of a structure now exposed to the open air. Faith47 recently dropped one of her most iconic murals to date in the quaint town of Tudela De Navarra at the fourth annual Avant Garde Urbano Festival (also see our coverage of Vhils’ piece). In an area of Spain that is heavily influenced by Catholicism, she appropriately integrated a piece depicting a strong likeness to the Virgin Mary entitled saturation.incubation.illumination. Alexandre Farto, aka Vhils spent some time this week chipping out his latest mural in the remote Tudela De Navarra, Spain for Avant Garde Urbano which began September 30th and closes October 27th. What started out as a gathering of like minded street artists has quickly grown into an international artist pilgrimage in this quaint municipality. Sam3 has been busy recently along the Mediterranean coastline of Spain in Costa Blanca working on some murals featuring his signature shadow figures. Along with the stunning piece with political commentary that refers to expulsion of the Moors in the Ricote Valley in the sixteenth century, painted on a rock face (seen above), there was also the silhouette of a man in a boat with pretty sweet placement taking advantage of the natural elements of the wall (seen below). After giving you an overview of Escif’s work recently, we have another mural to share with you from the Spanish street muralist. Entitled The Enlightened Vandalism, the massive wall is located in Villarreal and features a masked figure engaging in various illegal activities and acrobatic maneuvers in a repeating composition that is often characteristic of Escif’s work. Remed & Okuda @ Campo Viejo (Spain)

Remed and Okuda recently got together for a joint project in Spain at the Campo Viejo vineyards. Along with a mural they worked on, the two Spanish artists also collaborated on several sculptures at the Logroño location including the sweet large scale piece seen above.
