Several weeks ago, we brought you some photos of the newest Blu mural painted for the Tudela Avant-Garde Urbano Festival in Spain. Streets: Escif & Ericailcane (Valencia)

Serial collaborator Ericailcane has instead opted to trade his Italian neighbor Blu for Spanish street art crusader Escif. Ironically, Blu and Escif collaborated together in Valencia on an impressive tandem mural back in July for Arquitecturas Colectivas. Quite clearly, the three artists share a tight bond and mutual respect for one another. After a machine-like summer which saw Blu continue banging out thought provoking murals in the Eurozone in a near never ending stream of projects that started back in March (see Italy, Bologna, Palestra, Jesi, Krakow, Poznań, Fabriano, Cologne, Grottaglie, Valencia, Italy), the Italian street maestro has apparently worked his wizardry on another massive wall in Valencia, Spain. Streets: Mentalgassi for Getxo Photo 2011 (Spain)

For this fifth edition of the festival dedicated to photography, GETXOPHOTO, that takes place in Spain, Berlin collective Mentalgassi decided to create four spherical portraits and float them in the sea. Known for creatively wheatpasting over existing urban objects, this time they decided to take control of the entire process to produce these “elderly swimmers.” Take a look at more photos as well as video from Fermin Aio and Aitor Gisasola after the jump…

It looks like Spanish street artist Escif, who recently hit up San Francisco with his friend San, has changed tag team partners. This time it’s prolific street satirist Blu, who recently himself was working with Ericailcane in Italy at the FAME Festival. AM has been keeping a close eye on AEC and Waone, who together form the Ukranian duo Interesni Kazki (Interesting Fairy Tales). Earlier this year, the two Kiev-based artists had a solo show at Galerie All Over in Lyon, France. Last month, original drawings by them were displayed at Pictures On Walls in a group show coinciding with the launch (featured) of Tristan Manco‘s new book, Street Sketchbook: Journeys. Urban interventionist sPy opened his debut solo show last week in his home country of Spain. Entitled “Urbana”, the show features a collection of photographs chronicling the pranksters recent works in Europe and New York City. Dubbed the “Spanish Banksy” by the media, sPy’s work focuses on alterations of the urban landscape, a rarity in that he refrains from using the traditional means and methods of graffiti/street art ie: stencils, wheatpastes or aerosol.
