Yesterday, the long anticipated return of hometown street art heroes happened in Sao Paulo at Galpão Fortes Vilaça when Os Gemeos opened their solo show. For this exhibition entitled A ópera da lua or The Moon Opera, the Brazilian twins created an immersive experience for their fans consisting of over 30 paintings, wall murals, three sculptures, and a 3D video installation. This year’s Glastonbury Festival kicked off recently in the UK where attendees were surprised by an appearance by Banksy’s Sirens of the Lambs truck. The Bristol-based artist imported the art performance piece from his recent art residency on the streets of New York, changing out the truck to something seen locally as well as adding a man dressed as a farmer leading the way. A few months after taking part in POW WOW Hawaii (covered) and putting on a solo show during Armory week in NYC (covered), Know Hope has finished another interesting project during his residency at Mission To Art in Turn, Italy. Known for his versatility with different techniques and mediums, and his love for written word, he is currently finishing a super limited edition of hand-made and screen-printed zine and print. Last week, the Known Gallery featured the release party (with support from Hennessy) for a new line from Crooks & Castles designed by Futura. Entitled LEWDS, the collection (which can be seen in more detail here) featured the familiar text and atom motif from the NYC graffiti legend while paying homage to Christopher “Lewds” Natalio, the late Marketing Director of the streetwear brand. As previously announced, Mexican artist Favio Martinez aka Curiot, opened his first solo show in his hometown of Mexico City at Fifty24Mx Gallery on the 14th of June.
