Project M/4 (Berlin) – Part I

As we mentioned last week, the Thinkspace Gallery curating a show entitled LAX / TXL as part of the fourth stage of a project by Urban Nation. Along with this group exhibition, some artists have been recruited to create 10×10 foot window murals including Alexis Diaz (aka La Pandilla) – seen above, Andrew Schoultz, C215, Curiot, Fernando Chamarelli, Glenn Barr, Joao Ruas, Low Bros, Nosego, Word To Mother, plus a massive full building mural from Dabs Myla. Releases: Faile – Original Book Covers

Today, May 20th, at 12 Noon Eastern Standard Time, Faile (featured) will be releasing more of their original silk screened book covers, conveniently float mounted in a white frame. The imagery in this set features imagery from their recent show at the Dallas Contemporary (covered) as well as their Cat Show LA quilt. Update: Conor Harrington

It looks like the Lazarides Gallery recently stopped by Conor Harrington’s (interviewed) studio to check in on the UK-based painter. What they saw was some amazing new works in progress for his upcoming debut show in New York later this year, presumably a pop up put on by the London-based gallery. Entitled Eat and Delete, the exhibition will include 10-12 large canvases that continues where the Irish artist’s Dead Meat show in London (covered) left off. Openings: Mobstr – Sex, Drugs & Painting Canvases

UK-based artist Mobstr (interviewed) recently launched his solo exhibition Sex, Drugs & Painting Walls Canvases at The Old Truman Brewery in London. Following his public works (covered here), the minimalistic street artist has created black and white canvases with witty text messages, flyers to support a ‘save the trees’ campaign, and a series of installations from dummy spray painters to the re-creation of the artist at work surrounded by a sea of draft messages. Nychos For Volvo Art Session

Volvo Art Session is live art project taking place in Zurich’s main railway station that finds “selected Swiss and international artists applying their creativity to a Volvo car” The organizers of the event invited Nychos as one of the artists for their fourth year of the event. Streets: Space Invader (Tokyo)

Legendary street artist Space Invader is back in Tokyo where he is preparing for the Japanese premiere of his ART4SPACE movie (covered), in collaboration with Target Gallery. This 45 minute movie shows the making of one of his most elaborate and unique projects – sending up one of his tiled pieces into space. Releases: Pejac – “Sepukku” Screenprint

Spanish artist Pejac whose diverse works we introduced recently (Art Focus), just announced a release of his limited edition print. The large image titled Sepukku is features a silhouette of a Japanese samurai, performing Seppuku or Hara-Kiri, a form of ritual suicide by disembowelment, by using a Sakura branch (cherry blossoms). This image was originally created as an acrylic and oil on canvas, and painted with a minimalist color palette, one of the artist’s signature elements.
