Previews: Thinkspace – “LAX / TXL” & Project M/4 (Berlin)

As previously announced, the Urban Nation project in Berlin is continuing with their fourth phase which includes a pop-up exhibition and mural project curated by Andrew Hosner of Thinkspace. Titled LAX / TXL, the show is opening on Saturday, May 17th in Berlin, and will feature works from an impressive rooster of artists. Similar to their Exploring The New Contemporary Movement show during this year’s POW! Benefits: “Art for Tibet” @ The Tibet House

Art for Tibet is up and running on their annual art auction featuring the works of Shepard Fairey, Kenji Hirata, Yuri Shimojo, Peter Parpan and about 40+ others. The auction will run live online until Thursday May 15th at 12pm, at which point online bidding will then be suspended  to allow the live auction at the Tibet House in New York City from 6pm-8pm.  Any unsold works will be back online until May 27th. Openings: Nychos – “Street Anatomy” @ Fifty24SF

After painting several murals in the Bay Area (SF & Oakland), world traveller and muralist Nychos also opened a solo show at Fifty24SF last month. The exhibition entitled Street Anatomy featured works on canvas and paper highlighting the Austrian street artist’s distinctive cartoony dissections including a series of renderings of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Upcoming: POW! WOW! Taiwan

Although the first POW! WOW! event was held in Hong Kong, the last four years have seen the annual art gathering held in the tropical paradise of Hawaii (see this year’s coverage). Leading female street artists Miss Van and Olek recently opened their two-person show at StolenSpace Gallery in London (previewed  here).  Based on their strong friendship and artistic sisterhood, both show their mutual appreciation for each other work .
