Streets: Tanker Mural Collaboration (Copenhagen)

Artists Simon Hjermind Jensen, Theis Wendt, Anders Schmidt and Silas Inoue recently completed a pretty sweet collaboration mural in Odinsgade, Copenhagen featuring a giant tanker. Utilizing architectural elements like the chimney as well as existing graffiti, the grounded ship is a striking addition to the capital of Denmark. Upcoming: Slinkachu – “Global Model Village” @ Andipa Gallery

Coming up at the end of next month (Sept 27th), street sculptor and photographer Slinkachu will be opening a new show at Andipa Gallery in London. Entitled Global Model Village, the exhibition will feature a mix of installations placed in different cities around the world in the course of his travels (like the piece seen above from New York). The show coincides with the launch of his new book also called Global Model Village which comes out the same day in the UK from Boxtree Macmillan and in the USA from Blue Rider Press. […]

The summary of last week’s street activity is headlined by this new mural from Aaron Martin (aka Angry Woebots) in Hawaii. The piece which is located in the kaka’ako district at the UFC Gym (BJ Penn) in Honolulu was painted in preparation for the upcoming POW WOW event. Over the weekend, the debut show at Perry Rubenstein’s newly opened Los Angeles gallery featured new works from Shepard Fairey. Entitled Americana, the exhibition showcased eleven new works, each one inspired by the songs, such as Oh Susannah, This Land Is Your Land and Clementine from Neil Young’s new album Crazy Horse. “Fairey says he listened to the music and lyrics to come up with concepts for visual representations of the songs. Streets: Miss Van & Dan Quintana (Los Angeles)

Last week in Culver City, Miss Van (who was in town for her show at Copro Gallery) and Dan Quintana combined their powers for mural at the Branded Arts Complex. For this wall, entitled The Big Bad Wolf, street French femme fatale and the Los Angeles-based Quintana created a scene involving Vanessa’s signature poupée’s posed with a large wolf.
