Leading off this week’s summary of videos is this time-lapse (via Savage Habit) from the Volvo Switzerland as seven Chinese artists paint and repaint the new Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid. The event was held at the Zurich Main Station and featured the work of Shadow Chen, Wang Meng, Sally Zou, Honghua, Hua Tunan, Left, Shan Jiang & MEGAMUNDEN. Openings: REVOK – “Gilgamesh” @ Known Gallery

Not only did Known Gallery host an opening reception from SABER (interviewed) on Saturday night (covered), the Los Angeles showspace also featured new works from REVOK in a joint exhibition. Entitled Gilgamesh, the collection of intricately assembled sculptural pieces represent a carefully selected montage of found materials garnered from the slowly decaying areas of Detroit, REVOK’s current city of choice and source of inspiration. Openings: SABER – “Beautification” @ Known Gallery

Over the weekend, the Known Gallery in the heart of Los Angeles brought the summer heat with a joint exhibition between SABER (interviewed) & REVOK, two LA’s most wanted. First up are photos of the graf-inspired works from SABER collectively entitled Beautification. For this showing, record breaking artist decided to move away from the flag-inspired works that he has been working on of late and created a set of mostly figurative paintings centered around urban landscapes superimposed with his signature flowing script. Preview: Saber & Revok – “Beautification & Gilgamesh” @ Known Gallery

Tonight at the Known Gallery in Los Angeles, two of the area’s most respected writers will be putting on a joint show. SABER (interviewed), who recently was in the UK for a group exhibition where he added the Union Jack to his series of flag interpretations, will be presenting a new body of work entitled Beautification featuring his kinetic strokes of color overlaid on depictions of urban landscape. Streets: Push (Huntington Beach)

With the US Open of Surfing opening tomorrow in sunny Southern California, Push was commissioned to paint some murals for Converse. This piece was painted at Livery Design Gruppe in Huntington Beach featuring some of the MSK-affiliated writer’s signature patterns and colors. Streets: Desordes Creativas Festival (Part I) – Blu

We haven’t heard much from Blu (since April in Morocco), but it looks like the the Italian street savant has made the short trip over to Spain recently for the Desordes Creativas Festival. Set in the town of Ordes, the has a nice lineup of participants including Ericailcane, Liqen, Sam3 and more. For now, check out this amazing new wall from Blu featuring a horde of vegetables jumping into a blender, painted with some of his his signature dark humor. Tipped off by Savage Habit. Releases: Futura x Hennessy VS Bottle Chase Pack @ Reed Space

Last night, Hennessy held a preview launch at New York’s Reed Space for their latest VS cognac bottle designed by Futura (seen here). This pop up event was announced via Hennessy’s twitter and exclusive to only the first 50 fans arriving at the location. The line was long, but worth the wait as each fan (over 21) was given a special Hennessy gift pack containing a signed bottle by the graffiti legend himself. Streets: Phlegm (New York)

Sheffiield-based street muralist Phlegm recently made a trip out to New York and it looks like he brought along instruments of his trade as he put up multiple murals in Manhattan at the Fulton housing project on West 17th. Featuring his intricate imagery, the pieces follow his characters as they handle enigmatic and complex contraptions and gadgets. On interest, he also added one of his creatures to an existing piece by Israeli street artist Know Hope leading to an interesting collaboration after the fact. For a […]
