While in town for his recent London show, LUDO (interviewed) spent some time outside of the gallery in the urban environment where he feels most comfortable. His large-scale, hand-drawn wheatpastes infiltrated walls, billboards, and shutterfronts citywide. Last week, Post No Bills held their third exhibition thus far entitled Reality Bites. The show centered around the work of various artists including Borf, Brett Amory, Sage Vaughn, Kelsey Brookes, Mark Jenkins, Morley, and Ravi Zupa who supplied new limited edition prints as well as hand finished multiples. Vhils, whom we recently filmed working on a wall for the Post No Bills gallery in Venice, California has been spotted chiseling away on the other side of the pond in the UK. This newest piece was commissioned by the Urban Outfitters in Exeter and also features what looks to be a specially constructed facade to accommodate the Portuguese artist’s unique techniques. Rounding out his time in Croatia, where a super-sized seeing device was already gifted to the Central European country, two more murals were completed by Phlegm before heading back to the UK. Last Wednesday during Christie’s Post War & Contemporary Art sale in London, a historic Banksy canvas came very close to tripling its high estimate of £50,000. On the first of October, the Carmichael Gallery will welcome father and son duo, Eriberto and Estevan Oriol, to Culver City for an exhibition together. AM recently attended the star studded charity art show Made In Polaroid held at Phillips de Pury. The benefit was a one night auction that featured 50 works created by the 50-50-50 project using Polaroid’s mobile printer. All proceeds went to support Free Arts NYC. Over the weekend, Subliminal Projects brought in a power trio of graffiti legends in their show titled Three Kings.
