As AM was perusing the various booths at Art Los Angeles Contemporary, we ran into a painting by a instantly recognizable artist, lusted over by many a street art collector. That painting you see above is a 36″x48″ by José Parlá and it was prominently featured at the Otero Plassart booth. Streets: Gaia – “St John”

A new piece from Gaia recently went up around North Ave and Pennsylvania in Baltimore. Continuing his biblical-themed series of work, “St John” appears to combine a variant of his “Deny Me Three Times” rooster with the beheaded John the Baptist (not sure how Peter’s denial of Jesus relates to the beheading of Jesus’ cousin, but we’ll ask Gaia the next time we see him). Releases: Ernesto Yerena – “Fidel” Print

Ernesto Yerena has a new project and this time, it’s of the Cuban leader Fidel Castro. Working with our friends at Modern Multiples (featured), Ernesto is set to release another dual editioned silk screened print on Hecho Con Ganas this Thursday (Feb 4th). Roa shows in Cologne & Paris

Up-and-coming Belgium-based street artist Roa had a show open last weekend (running until March 13th) in Germany at the ArtyFarty Gallery. As you can see in the picture above, he also found time to get up some pieces in and around the streets of Cologne. He will also no doubt do the same in Paris if he plans on attending his show opening there this Thursday, February 4th, at Galerie Itinerrance. Aakash Nihalani x Sean John Pop Up Store

When Sean John opened up their pop-up store last weekend in Miami Beach, just in time for Super Bowl, it was with the artwork and design of Aakash Nihalani (who just opened his show at Carmichael Gallery). A video came out recently that walks through the Doze Green show (covered) that is currently showing at the Jonathan Levine Gallery. Monotonous documentary lady voice notwithstanding, the video highlights the otherworldly and stylized work from the old school street artist, especially the vibrancy of his color pieces. San Francisco based artist Andres Guerrero is set to open a new show at Subliminal Projects on February 6th. His art has been a boon for him to equate the personal emotions of losing loved ones in his life. While at first his skulls may seem morbid, on second glance, it also contains the duality of life and its fragile yet wondrous nature.
