Openings: “Mood Swings” @ Carmichael Gallery

Opening alongside Know Hope (covered) at Carmichael Gallery was “Mood Swings,” a group show showcasing the work of seven urban artists: Asbestos, Bumblebee, Cena7, Fefe Talavera, Imminent Disaster, Labrona and Oddzoo. The show, which runs through July 2nd, presents a mixture of up-and-coming and established artists from varying backgrounds, giving patrons an opportunity to enjoy a diverse sampling of the genre. Invader will be having a solo show at Jonathan Levine Gallery at the end of June. Here’s a little video preview of his trademark “Rubickubism” process and a piece that will be at the show. In his grandest-scale project ever, “Banksy versus Bristol City Museum,” Banksy has installed over 100 works inside Bristol Museum, including an estimated 70 brand new, never before seen pieces. Work ranges from classic Banksy pieces to brand new sculpture, canvas and animatronics like those seen last in the NYC Village Pet Store show. Looks like the resourceful people over at Bristol Street Art have perhaps confirmed what has been suspected to be the location of Banksy’s surprise show – Bristol’s City Museum on Queen’s Road.Â They went as far as taking a picture through the small gap in the front doors.Â According to them, it looks like something Banksy did in 2007 in Glastonbury.Â Apparently a private viewingÂ “may”Â be held on the 12th of JuneÂ with a public viewing starting on the 13th of June (usual museum opening hours 10 […]

Shepard Fairey Helps Restore Italy with SMS Venice

It appears Swoon wasn’t the only artist in Venice recently.Â Shepard Fairey and his boys were also spotted spending a few weeks to “restore Venice.” The purpose of their visit wasn’t to vacation in the grand canals of Venice, but to create works for the SMS Venice Foundation. The works were donated by Shepard to promote the preservation of artistic and architectural heritage of the historic city of Venice. More after the jump.

Last time we interviewed Swoon, she was getting ready to set sail on her latest journey (The Swimming Cities of Serenissima) to Venice with her hand crafted fleet of ships.
