Openings: LeBasse Projects “Go East” NYC Pop-Up Show

AM stopped by last week to check out the Culver City based LeBasse Projects and the art that traveled to New York for their “Pop Up” show.  Only in town for less than a week, “Go East” showcased the work of Yoskay Yamamoto (featured and seen above), Tessar Lo, Edwin Ushiro, Joao Ruas, Eric Fortune (interviewed), Mia (interviewed), and Nate Frizzell (featured). Judging from what we saw, we look forward to the next trip east from this group of fresh young artists. More pics after […]

Preview: “Momentum” @ Nucleus Gallery

An interesting mix of artists are exhibiting together tomorrow night at the Nucleus Gallery, including Tiffany Bozic (above), Chigi, In Kyung Lim, Tessar Lo, Veronique Meignaud, and Brooks Salzwedel.  Of particular interest to us is seeing how the work of Bozic and Lo has progressed since their last shows at Fecal Face Gallery (covered) and LeBasse Projects (covered) respectively.  Our friend Commandax wrote up a nice article about Lo’s abstract evolution here. More preview images after the jump for this group show.

Preview: “Monster?” Group Show @ Copro Gallery

Monsters are attacking Bergamot Station!  Well, at least for the similarly named group show at Copro Gallery this Saturday night curated by none other than Travis Louie (interviewed).  Well respected in the art world and a talented artist himself, Travis was able to put together an impressive list of participants for exhibition.  Not only did he include regulars like Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed), Ron English (featured), Dan May (interviewed), Kris Kuksi, Chet Zar, Brian Despain (interviewed), Ana Bagayan (featured), and Tessar Lo, he also made sure […]

Openings: Tessar Lo – “Future Perfect” & Eric Fortune – “Lost in Light” @ LeBasse Projects

Tessar Lo made his solo exhibition debut this past Saturday with “Future Perfect” (previewed) at LeBasse Projects. Lo certainly impressed with this latest series of dream-like paintings which represents his exploration of “independence and hope for my personal history. Accepting my humanity is to understand that my existence partially relies on others. Though I’d want to know what it’s like to not rely on, need or respond to anyone but myself, no man is an island.” The show also features a notable installation from Lo […]

Preview: Tessar Lo – “Future Perfect” & Eric Fortune – “Lost in Light” @ LeBasse Projects

Tessar Lo will be presenting his first solo exhibition, “Future Perfect”, this Saturday, April 11th from 7-10PM at LeBasse Projects. Expect this new series of paintings to be his largest and most powerful yet. Eric Fortune will be exhibiting with his own solo conjunction with Tessar. Fortune’s new series of paintings will be presented in the LeBasse project room and is his largest body of work to date. Lo and Fortune are two very impressive emerging artists of today and we highly recommend attending the […]
