Mark Ryden’s First Toy – YHWH

Here is the first photo we have seen of Mark Ryden’s first ever toy – YHWH.  The figure is titled after one of his paintings (seen after the jump) and also cleverly posed with a little girl as in the painting.  Not sure what it is meant to be but one definition of YHWH is the God of the Old Testament as transliterated from Hebrew consonants.  Perhaps it’s Ryden’s vision of the Almighty, at least in the world of his paintings. The figure will come […]

Kaws – Original Fake x Medicom Bearbrick release @ Invincible Taiwan & Kawsone

It seems that KAWS mania is not only limited to the United States. KAWS’ latest vinyl toy, the Dissected Bearbrick, is a collaboration between Original Fake and Medicom.  This Bearbrick is designed after Kaws’ famous “Dissected Companion.” Like the fans that waited in line to see the opening of Kaws’ latest show at Honor Fraser (covered), fans in Asia (Tokyo & Taiwan) were also willing to camp out for a chance to purchase his rare products.  Last weekend, Taiwan’s premier fashion retailer Invincible sold all three sizes of the Bearbrick to Kaws’ zealous but […]

Yoskay Yamamoto Video & Customs

Suilma Rodriguez sent us a nice video she took and edited of Yoskay Yamamoto’s Koibito’s release (covered) last month at Munky King. Since the release party, Yoskay has been busy preparing for his upcoming solo show in May. However, he still had time to work on some new customs of his Koibito figure… Pics after the jump.

David Choe “Choegal” Signing – New York

Following up his sold out signing in LA of his latest art figure “Choegal,” David Choe has again teamed up with Giant Robot for another signing, this time in Manhattan. The signing will take place on January 3rd at Giant Robot NY. So if you are in the New York area, this may be your only chance to pick up a Choegal signed by the man himself. But as many learned from the LA line, get there early or go home empty handed. Choegal release […]

David Choe – Choegal Origins

David Choe posted up some images on his blog that showed some of the creative process behind his Choegal figure that he recently released. He included a painting that Choegal was apparently based on as well as progress shots of the sculpt, various faces, etc…  Check out the photo set after the jump.

David Choe “Choegal” Signing

AM stopped by yesterday at GR2 for the signing and release of David Choe’s “Choegal” toy. Many fans braved the cold weather and some lined up for over an hour to get their figure as well the poster of the current Giant Robot magazine cover signed.  More photos after the jump.

Releases: Choegal – David Choe

The long awaited wooden Choegal figure from David Choe has been released. Limited to 1000 pieces and priced modestly at $45, it features mechanical parts, three facial expressions (happy, sad, angry), and comes with a mini comic book. These were produced and available here at Ningyoushi in conjunction with Upper Playground. We believe these are all hand-painted so no two are different, but not by Choe. For those interested, there is a release party at Giant Robot 2 on December 23 (6-8pm) with Choe present […]
