As you know, Faile (featured) has been hard at work creating the mural for the iconic Houston & Bowery wall in New York. But, what we left out for the past year was the fact that they were secretly in their lab putting together a new show together for their fans in London. Details are tight as they’ve decided to keep this show a surprise but from what we know, the collective will be taking it to a whole new level when the new work is […]

Over the weekend, AM stopped by Mark Moore Gallery in Los Angeles to take a look at Jeremy Fish (featured) part in Rise of the Underground. Exhibiting alongside Kenichi Yokono, the standout pieces from the bearded one were his exquisite and imaginative woodcuts, an extension of the work we saw in NY in July. Enjoy more photos taken for us from ©Carlos Gonzalez after the jump…

With D*Face’s (interviewed) solo opening tonight at the Metro Gallery, it’s about time we updated you on his work in the streets leading up to the show. From the looks of things, his oversized spray can installations seem to be popular, but check out the other photos of D getting his logo up all over Melbourne, as well as an invitation to join the Order of the Wings. Pics after the jump…

One of the most celebrated and revered American artists working today, Chuck Close recently unveiled an exhibition of brand new paintings, prints, and tapestries at Culver City’s Blum and Poe.  This is Close’s first solo show with the blue chip gallery and according to them, it “represents the most significant body of work assembled in Los Angeles in sixteen years.” The spectacular exhibition, which occupies the gallery’s entire first floor, provides ample evidence of the artist’s masterful skills as a painter, photographer, and printmaker and […]

Following the Frieze week in London (covered here), AM headed off to Paris to visit the FIAC, the Foire Internationale d’Art Contemporain in Paris at the Grand Palais, host to 168 galleries. While Frieze focuses exclusively on contemporary art, the FIAC also combines early 20th century modern art with the contemporary. Of interest, Karl Lagerfeld designed the booth of Zurich’s Gallery Gmurzynska for the Rebels curated by Isabelle Bscher and featuring Jean-Michel Basquiat, Lucio Fontana, Yves Klein, Andy Warhol as well as Banksy and Scott Campbell. After hosting the first part of their 25th anniversary group show last month, La Luz De Jesus makes room for the opening of round two of the festivities on November 4th. With such a rich and storied tradition and one of the early visionaries in the game, Billy Shire, as the gallery owner, the long list of participants necessitated splitting the celebration into two parts. Next up is a lineup that includes Ana Bagayan, Shawn Barber, Gary Baseman, Tim Biskup, Bob Dob, Michael Hussar, Jordin Isip, Jessica […]

Last month in Berlin, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Foundation’s Human Rights Award for 2011 was awarded to Khaled Said of Egypt and Slim Amamou of Tunisia. Said’s sister, Zahraa Kassem received the award on the late activist’s behalf at a ceremony that included the unveiling of a portrait created by Andreas von Chrzanowski (aka Case) on remnants of the Berlin Wall and will be eventually placed in the Freedom Park (covered). Case, who we last caught up with at the Outside/In show in Los Angeles, utilized his […]

Two members of the Army of Snipers crew, Aaron “Angry Woebots” Martin and Pixel Pancho, recently teamed up together for some large murals in Los Angeles. Martin doesn’t usually go so big, but his friend and collaborator from Italy showed the way. We especially like this wall with Martin’s signature panda character changed into a grizzly and Pixel Pancho with his robotic version. More photos after the jump…
