News broke yesterday that Shepard Fairey (featured) was arrested in Los Angeles as he returned from Europe where he just opened an exhibition at the CAC Malaga (more on this later). He was charged with a felony after he allegedly vandalized Detroit properties while in town for his showing at the Library Street Collective (covered). He has since been released but will have to face charges at a later date of “defacing” 14 different locations in the city, in contrast to legal murals like the one seen above on the water tower and his tallest mural ever (covered). Let’s hope the punishment of up to five years in prison won’t be pursued aggressively so Shep can continue making art for his fans around the world.
