Teaser: Ray Caesar – “it started with eve…” launch @ Stephen Webster

Tonight at Stephen Webster in Beverly Hills in their 2nd floor gallery space, an exhibited curated by Corey Helford Gallery will open featuring the art work of Ray Caesar (interviewed). Openings: Interesni Kazki – “Nothing Special” @ Mid-City Arts

Last weekend, Mid-City Arts located in Los Angeles, California hosted the first U.S. exhibit by Ukrainian artists Interesni Kazki. Titled Nothing Special, the exhibit featured a collection of work which mirror their big scale murals both in style and in theme. Streets: Shepard Fairey (Barracuda Wall) Los Angeles

Over the weekend, Shepard Fairey (featured) and the Obey crew continued their large scale projects by pasting over the famed Barracuda wall. Last time we saw Fairey working on this wall was late last year when he collaborated with  SABER (interviewed) on a dual rendering of the American Flag (covered). This past weekend, the Known Gallery presented their latest exhibit titled White Wash which featured artwork from graffiti artist POSE and photography by KC Ortiz.  Starting with POSE, his work featured fifteen new works which filled the gallery’s main floor. Over the weekend, the Corey Helford Gallery debuted a new collection of work from artist and visual satirist Ron English (featured). Titled Seasons in Superbia, the show featured the NY-based artist’s ironic take on everything ranging from Peanuts characters to other pop culture icons from the comic book world, film, and animation. Signings: Justin Bua – “The Legends of Hip Hop” @ Amoeba Music

Tonight at 6pm, Amoeba Music in Hollywood will be hosting a signing with Justin Bua featuring his The Legends of Hip Hop book, illustrated entirely with his paintings. Bua chose 50 giants in the movement’s history for his special form of portraiture and included essays detailing how they affected his life personally and how it shifted the culture. Accompanying the LA-based artist will be legendary turntablist and composer DJ Qbert who will be providing the soundtrack for the event. Last Sunday, the Wende Museum officially unveiled to the public its Behind The Berlin Wall project which featured Herakut, D*Face’s (interviewed), and RETNA (featured) painting one side (the East Berlin section) with their murals. The Wende Museum, spearheaded by Justin Jampol, is a collections-based education institute which preserves Cold War artifacts and which conceived of the Wall Project almost two years ago to the date.
