As we mentioned in our article documenting RETNA (featured) painting the side of the Pasadena Museum of California Art (PMCA), tonight marks the opening of Street Cred, an exhibition featuring a LA-centric roster of graffiti and street artists (as well as fine artists who have street influences in their past). It looks like Italian street sensation Blu is not shy about letting the world know his views on religion. First came the mural in Bologna over the Easter weekend featuring a praying man eating his own “pasta” brain, perhaps indicating religion is all created in the mind. Now, this new piece in Krakow features a bullhorn made from a bell (maybe the famous Royal Sigismund Bell regarded as one of Poland’s national symbols?) speaking to the mindless masses. Liqen, an artist that we have not focused on directly yet here on AM, but has been doing good work recently, has a new wall up in Mexico City entitled Family Taco. The Spanish street artist is primarily known for his surreal large scale murals filled details that require a second and third look to fully appreciate it’s complexities. One of the coolest examples of Faile’s outdoor works are the Prayer Wheels (featured) which first debuted at their Lost in Glimmering Shadows show in the UK. These sculptural works are engineered to spin in place while people meditated to their favorite images from the collective.
