Openings: Terry Richardson – “Terrywood” @ OHWOW Gallery

As the world prepared itself for the Academy Awards on Sunday by making their predictions and looking out for their favorite actors on the red carpet, the unofficial start of the weekend celebration of film and stars began with the opening reception of Terry Richardson’s first solo gallery show in Los Angeles. Transforming OHWOW into Terrywood, the famous photographer exhibited his works based on and inspired by Hollywood life and ideas. Each piece featured Richardson’s signature snapshot aesthetic and recognizable style. Choosing to focus on […]

Previews: Terry Richardson – “TERRYWOOD” @ OHWOW

In his first solo exhibition in Los Angeles, kinky shotmaker to the stars Terry Richardson will be presenting at OHWOW a more fine art spin to his impressive commercial photographic oeuvre. Opening Friday, February 24th, TERRYWOOD will serve as a refreshing departure from his concept driven yet more constrictive Mom & Dad and HONG KONG exhibitions last year. This time around, Terry opens his shutter wide, takes aim at his favorite muse – Hollywood – and lets his true, unfiltered colors shine through. Capturing both the […]

Publications: Scott Campell – “If You Don’t Belong, Don’t Be Long” Signed Edition

As we mentioned last year, Scott Campbell’s first book, If You Don’t Belong, Don’t Be Long, is now fully baked and ready for consumption. Published by Rizzoli and OHWOW, the hardcover monograph chronicles the origins of, parallels between, and indelible influence of his tattoo work and his fine art, with his cut-currency sculptures already making headlines again this year during showings in both Zurich and Singapore last month. The comprehensive 208-page publication is as rich in imagery as it is insightful in commentary, including a series of salient […]

Teaser: Terry Richardson – “TERRYWOOD” @ OHWOW

On February 24th, the always provocative Terry Richardson’s will be opening his first solo showing in Los Angeles at the OHWOW Gallery. The busy fashion and celebrity photographer had only recently exhibited in New York at the end of last year with work focused on his mom and dad (covered). This time around, the new snapshots are entitled semi-eponymously TERRYWOOD and is no doubt inspired by multiple facets of Hollywood life. Discuss Terry Richardson here.

Mom & Dad featured an excerpt of select photos from his latest monograph from Morel Books (available here). As the title indicates, Richardson included photos of his late father Bob Richardson, a well-known fashion photographer and mother Annie. There were two installations to accompany the photos. First was a collection of printed photos that lined the floor of the gallery and a second was a series of archived answering machine […]
