Openings: Marco Mazzoni – “Naturama” & Lindsey Carr – “La Petite Singerie” @ Roq La Rue Gallery

There is an old saying that the window to your soul is through the eyes. Marco Mazonni has capatilized on this, by excluding them from his brilliant color pencil drawings. The exclusion mystifies and intrigues, while the surrounding plants, flowers, and familiar animals try to ease our reactions. Naturama features three larger works and a bounty of smaller pieces on moleskin paper, giving us a detailed look into Mazzoni’s animal kingdom. AM recently visited Mary Iverson in her studio leading up to the open of her Sunk exhibition. With the work complete, it was time to take it to the masses at Davidson Galleries in Seattle. The large landscapes filled the space with nature, but the veil of over-population and consumerism permeated the scenes as etched lines and shipping containers. One year since his last solo show at Ruttkowski;68 in Germany, Brazilian artist Finok aka Raphael Sagarra will be presenting his solo show at Smith Galleria in his hometown of Sao Paolo. Opening on the 23rd of November, and on view until 21st of December, Despacho is shaping up to be Finok’s strongest show to date. Shortly after finishing new series of hand painted mono silkscreens (covered), the NYC-based How & Nosm flew to Portugal to take part in the ongoing Underdogs Project. As announced earlier this year, Raoul and Davide Perre are on a list of participants which also includes Interesni Kazki (covered), Cyrcle (covered), Maismenos, Alex Fakso, Martha Cooper, Vhils & Pixel Pancho.
