Tomorrow night, Anonymous Gallery in New York will present the first solo exhibition of artist Pryce Lee. Entitled Single Shot, this show consists of transformative works that focus on life, death and the human experience. The 15 “single shots” on display will provide the opportunity for attendees to be both viewer and viewed simultaneously, forcing objectivity and contemplation while becoming a part of the artist’s subject matter. Openings: Ben Eine – “Heartfelt” @ Judith Charles Gallery

On Wednesday, renowned graffiti artist Ben Eine unveiled a new series of works at Judith Charles Gallery. Entitled Heartfelt, the street typography wizard conveyed his thoughts & emotion through his bold color compositions. The exhibition showcased both his large format canvases and his print-making techniques. Using subtle changes in color and texture, EINE changes perception with his Jedi mind trick word plays. Studio Visits: STASH – “Cap Indicates Color” @ Sports Lab (Atmos)

AM recently had the pleasure of visiting a legend in the New York Graffiti scene – STASH. Long known for his bold outlines and clean shapes, the bomber is in Tokyo for a fresh exhibition. Entitled Cap Indicates Color, the new series of works explores some of the iconic spray cap motif & splatter that he made popular in with his visual language. Openings: Allison Schulnik – “Eager” @ ZieherSmith

Last month, AM stopped by ZieherSmith in New York to take in the grotesque yet beautiful work of Allison Schulnik. Entitled Eager, the name of her newest stop-motion claymation film (which premiered on opening night), the exhibition featured paintings and sculptural works related to the film. Last week, AM attended the New York City Ballet (NYCB) to catch the premiere of the next exhibition in their artist series, this time featuring JR. The French “photograffeur” took the opportunity to transform the Lincoln Center with his imagery both inside and out. Basel Week Miami ’13: Rubell Family Collection – “28 Chinese”

While down in Miami for Art Basel Week, we took the opportunity to check out 28 Chinese, the current exhibition at the Rubell Family Collection. As the name implies, the show consisted of paintings, photographs, sculptures and videos by 28 contemporary Chinese artists which were acquired by the Rubells’ during multiple visits to China between 2001 and 2012. One of the booths we were excited to see at the NADA (New Art Dealers Alliance) art fair during Art Basel Week was by New York Collective The Still House Group. Interestingly enough when we arrived, all we found was a cryptic Xerox copy machine asking us to press the button. Streets: Swoon – Bowery & Houston Mural (Part II)

In the middle of last Fall, Swoon (interviewed) was tapped as the next artist to hit the iconic Bowery & Houston mural location. We caught her working day and night (here) to get her visual language up for New Yorkers to enjoy. Utilizing her well known hand-painted paper cuts and wheatpaste collages, Swoon & her team created a beautiful mural that captured the layers of the city and its urban inhabitants.
