Looks like an emerging artist that we have been following, Melissa Haslam, has landed a show in LA. She opened in a group show called “Blender” last night at the new combined Cerasoli-LeBasse Gallery in the artsy Culver City district. The new gallery is a merge between Project: Gallery and the Cerasoli Gallery (formerly The Lab 101) and hopefully will help this Australian artist have more exposure to U.S. collectors. Brendan Monroe’s show “Dwindle to a Tiptoe” (previously previewed) with Evah Fan just opened last Thursday in Paris. It seems that nowadays, more and more American artists that we are familiar with are showing internationally. One of our favorite artists, Travis Louie, is opening a three-person show tonight at the Shooting Gallery. Louie’s technique must be quite complicated as he is able to paint photorealistic images of his imaginary creatures. He will be sharing some of his “secrets” in a future feature with us, but in the meantime you can enjoy his paintings from this show after the jump. Openings: KMNDZ & Ekundayo @ Thinkspace

Judging from the crowd that showed up for the opening, KMNDZ & Ekundayo careers are going in an opposite direction when compared to the stock market right now.Â Luckily we got there early and took some quick pics before it got too packed.Â The two artists spent several days completely transforming Thinkspace and their hard work definitely paid off. Entering the gallery was like entering into their own little post-nuclear apocalyptic world. More pics after the jump.

Skool of Hard Knocks / Above

Street artist Above has forwarded us a video to his newest creation “Skool of Hard Knocks.” He was able to take some existing graffiti and transform it into a lesson for a classroom. KMNDZ (above) & Ekundayo’s (below) two-man show is set to open this Friday, October 10th at Thinkspace in the Silverlake district. Arrested Motion was invited to take a look at the installation process last night, as well as take some photos to share with our readers. Over the last several shows, it is becoming more apparent that Brendan Monroe is in the middle of a transition period. Although it can be argued that all artists are constantly evolving and technically always in “transition,” most collectors have noticed less and less figurative elements to his work. For example, he rarely adds faces to his characters anymore. Famed street photographer JR opened his show in London last Friday. Much anticipation had built up over the last week because of the large installations he had put up in Soho (teased previously).
