Artists, galleries and publishers alike seem to be rallying to support the aid effort following the recent devastating earthquake in Haiti, and we at Arrested Motion applaud their valuable contributions. We’ve been following the work of Brooklyn artist Kevin Cyr for a little while now and we were excited to hear that he has a new body of work appearing at Raandesk Gallery of Art in New York. “Behind the Curtain” also features Jason Bryant, whom Cyr met whilst they were both working as assistants for Kehinde Wiley. Our friends at Zero Cool gallery will be opening a new group show entitled “Don’t believe the Type” tonight in London that will feature four large scale collaboration paintings by Hush (interviewed) and Dan Baldwin (interviewed). The artists have not worked together in the past, but when AM heard that they would be pooling talents, we thought that this could be something special. Influential American artist, Raymond Pettibon will be opening a exhibition tonight in London at Sadie Coles HQ. Included in the show will be a series of new drawings along with a number of seminal pieces from the 1980’s. Definitely take time to attend this show if you are in the UK and also look for more coverage of Pettibon’s show coming up at World Class Boxing at this year’s Art Basel Miami. AM got hooked on Tristram Lansdowne’s urban landscape paintings when we saw his work featured earlier this year at Joshua Liner Gallery’s summer group show (covered), so we tried to find out as much as we could about this exciting young artist. Streets (and Pool): D*Face in LA

D*Face (interviewed) has just returned back from his two week trip to LA where he made and released his “UnAmerican Graffiti” print, but we knew that he was going to be hitting a few spots whilst in town – and here are the results. AM happened upon this good looking pop-up show at the Dray Walk Gallery in London’s Truman Brewery complex this week organised by the freshly formed Lava Collective. Lava brought over Brooklyn residents Peru Ana Ana Peru for their first showing of work in the UK, and their installation dominated the huge space.
