Earlier this month, the Buddy System Invitational (curated by Sven Davis) opened at the Breeze Block Gallery in Portland. Over the weekend, the Fabien Castanier Gallery presented new works from L’Atlas & Canto collectively entitled PARALLELS. Aptly named, the exhibition not only refers the nationality of the two French artists, but the similarities in their aesthetic that both involve abstraction, precise patterning, and geometric tendencies. The series of paintings and installations they produced do pair nicely when viewed together and certainly show that the two have come far since their time on the streets. Here’s a show that a few people are looking forward to. Unnatural Histories II is the follow up to last year’s group exhibition at Portland’s Antler Gallery. Opening on 26th September, the exhibition calls for each participating artist to create a natural history inspired portrait of a mythical creature.
