Brendan Monroe (interviewed) was in Santa Monica this past Saturday, May 23rd, for a book signing at Richard Heller Gallery. Recently, we had the opportunity see Brendan in the Bay Area at Park Life and also to check out his studio. Last night, Louis Vuitton premiered a show they curated entitled A Passion for Creation at the Hong Kong Museum of Art with a shortlist of some of the top names in Contemporary Art.  Some of the artists included Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jeff Koons, Paul Chan, Cao-Fei, Yang Fudong, Gilbert & George, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Andreas Gursky, Pierre Huyghe, Bertrand Lavier, and Christian Marclay. Releases: New Obey Soup Cans – All City Propaganda @ Iconoclast

Obey and Iconoclast are bringing back the Soup Cans! Shepard Fairey has designed three more colorways of his iconic “All City Propaganda” Soup Cans. The continuation of this amazing series will look awesome as a completed set. The price will be $250 for each print in the first batch and tiered higher as the release moves toward selling out. On a recent road trip to the Bay Area, AM took the opportunity to visit the studio of Brendan Monroe (interviewed) that he shares with Evah Fan. Although Brendan was only in the early stages of preparing for his next solo show at Richard Heller Gallery, there were still many items of interest to discuss and see. Openings/Video: I-Lib – “As Teardrops Fall” @ Stella Dore Gallery, London

AM stopped by to check out I-LIB’s (I Lurk In Bushes) debut solo show “As Teardrops Fall” at Stella Dore Gallery in London and we were blown away by his combination of spray paint and ballpoint pen drawings. This young artist has been causing a stir in the UK and we can see why there has been much interest in his work. Openings: Grow Up @ Lazarides (Rathbone Place)

Steve Lazarides opened his new five-story gallery in London’s Rathbone Place this week (originally reported here). Collectors, admirers and famous faces alike crammed into the new Lazarides location, which has been named “The Rathbone.” AM was at the private view opening on Thursday the 14th and the house was packed. Even those on the invite-only guest list had to queue outside for a chance to get in and see the latest installment of the “Outsiders” show.
