Looks like KAWS has gone back to work after his successful Miami exhibit because we noticed a new painting on the Gering & Lopez KAWS exhibition page. This painting is entitled “Perils” and is a pretty large at 68″ x 86.”Â Since it hasn’t appeared before, we believe this piece will be at the upcoming November exhibit in New York. Continuing with our coverage of Shepard Fairey’s pending trip to DC, we now have the images that will be exhibited at the Regime Change Starts at Home show at the Irvine Contemporary Gallery.Â Shepard will have 9 new paintings and collage on paper pieces for the exhibition.Â Included is the LAST of three unique hand stenciled collaged portraits of Barack Obama’s campaign icon: “Hope”. Preview: Hisashi Tenmyouya @ Mizuma Gallery

On October 15, Tokyo’s Mizuma Gallery will open Fighting Spirit, a new show by one of contemporary Japanese art’s shooting stars, Hisashi Tenmyouya. Tenmyouya’s work fuses Western pop culture (e.g., hip-hop, video games, movies) with Japanese traditional themes and techniques, comparable perhaps to what Kehinde Wiley does with African American culture and classical European art. For Fighting Spirit, Tenmyouya will be showing eight new paintings, including his largest work to date, in addition to works on paper. The show runs through Nov. 15.

Last night, the prodigal Josh Keyes returned to his home state of Washington and brought the heavy artillery. AM got the scoop from the completely SOLD-OUT show at OKOK Gallery in Seattle. With the anticipation and buzz growing since the show was announced, Josh did not fail to disappoint with a simply stunning show. Brendan Monroe’s show “Dwindle to a Tiptoe” (previously previewed) with Evah Fan just opened last Thursday in Paris. Along with Aya Takano and Chiho Aoshima, Ai Yamaguchi was one of the young, up-and-coming female Japanese artists involved in Takashi Murakami’s Tokyo Girls Bravo exhibition in 1999. Unlike the other two, however, Yamaguchi severed her connection with Kaikai Kiki and went her own way. Arrested Motion first encountered the luscious and colorful work of Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes at an art fair a few years ago and naively mistook it for that of Ryan McGinness. But where McGinness’ work is graphic, Milhazes’ is decorative; where McGinness’ work is based in the mind, Milhazes’ is based in the heart. Banksy’s “Pop-Up” store in New York

Rumors about a upcoming Banksy NYC show had slowed down the past few days… that was until Banksy dropped a bomb on us and updated his Web site announcing a “pop up” store in Greenwich Village. The store, which actually opened a few days ago, according to Wooster Collective, is called “The village pet store and charcoal grill“.
