Teaser: Herakut – No Placebos @ Red Flagg

German duo Herakut (interviewed) are hard at work preparing for a surprise show tomorrow night at Red Flagg. The show, entitled “No Placebos,” will run through July 3rd and opens with a reception from 6-8 pm with the artists in attendance and available for signing their recently published monograph The Perfect Merge.Â Hot off their successful exhibition with Campbarbossa, look for them to continue to impress with this New York show.

Openings: Andy Kehoe – “Living Twilight” @ Jonathan Levine Gallery

Andy Kehoe opened his first NYC solo “Living Twilight” at Jonathan Levine Gallery alongside Souther Salazar (covered). Through his style of detailed majestic landscapes and rich autumn hues, Kehoe was able to capture the essence of twilight. We also enjoyed his customary detailedÂ man-beasts isolated in his beautiful serene locations. Kehoe’sÂ “fantasy-esqe”Â styleÂ also gave us a sense of a storybook childhood nostalgia. Israeli street artist Know Hope makes his Los Angeles solo debut at Carmichael Gallery on Thursday, June 4th. AM stopped by to check out I-LIB’s (I Lurk In Bushes) debut solo show “As Teardrops Fall” at Stella Dore Gallery in London and we were blown away by his combination of spray paint and ballpoint pen drawings. This young artist has been causing a stir in the UK and we can see why there has been much interest in his work. Portugal street artist Vhils, who recently participated at the grand opening of Laz’s Rathbone Place as well as the Tunnel 228 project, just released a video he’s been working one entitled “Scratching the Surface.”Â In it, employing excellent cinematography, he documents the creation of one of his pieces.Â We also get a glimpse at his mastery of all tools of the trade – spray paint, stencil, power tools, hammer and chisel.
