Shaquille O’Neal’s curatorial debut opened at Flag Art Foundation this past Friday to a mass of curious art fans. A line filled the lobby just for the elevator up to the duplex gallery space on the 9th and 10th floor. Saturday night was the opening of Robert Williams’ traveling solo show at the Cal State University Northridge Gallery. We originally covered the exhibition in New York, but the second time around was no less stunning. Bringing with him a massive body of work including paintings, sculptures, drawings, comic book covers, and and specially designed wallpaper, the “godfather” delighted his fans in the greater Los Angeles area with his conceptual genius and flawless execution. Opening tonight in the main gallery space of LeBasse Projects is “Deva Loka Los Angeles”, a new body of work from Japanese artist Yoshitaka Amano. For anime fans out there, you may recognize his work from Vampire Hunter D and for the video game aficionados, you must know of his character designs for Final Fantasy. ARCO Madrid ’10: KAWS

Opening his solo show at Javier Lopez was not that only reason KAWS was in Madrid this week. He was also exhibiting at ARCO Madrid, one of the largest annual art fairs in Europe.
