Pixel Pancho just launched his first solo exhibition in London at StolenSpace entitled Memory of Life. The Italian artist has transformed the gallery space with installations featuring surreal robotic characters using pieces of furniture & musical boxes while also created some sculptures with moving mechanisms, including Michelone, an edition of 10 handmade and articulated robots. Sam Wolfe Connelly’s second solo show at Roq La Rue opened on March 5th. And Here I Lay features several oil paintings that can be described as haunting with a touch of remorse.  Feelings of quiet and loneliness invade film-like locations that could easily be used as crime scene evidence. Openings: Nawer – “Colors in Shapesland” @ Hidari Zingaro, Tokyo

Nawer recently opened his successful Tokyo debut at Hidari Zingaro Gallery. Co-curated by Takashi Murakami and Takumi “Kasenyan” Kaseno of the GEISAI executive committee, Colors in Shapeland is a part of KaiKai Kiki’s GEISAI∞Infinity​ project. For this show, the Polish artist created a whole new body of work consisting of his abstract geo-based pieces. While quite different than other artists on the KaiKai Kiki’s roster, Nawer’s futuristic abstract works obviously resonated with the local collectors as the show completely sold out. Openings: Sarah Joncas & Camilla d’Errico – “Beauty in the Breakdown” @ Thinkspace Gallery

Last weekend,  Sarah Joncas (seen above) and Camilla d’Errico (seen below) opened up a joint show together at Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angeles that included good representations of what they were known for. Beauty in the Breakdown featured the feminine portraiture  of Joncas in film-noir settings contrasted against the manga-inspired surreal work of d’Errico. Having painted over a hundred murals in Tehran, Iranian artist Mehdi Ghadyanloo recently made his debut London show.
