Openings: Pejac – “Law of the Weakest” (London Popup)

On Thursday, July 21st, Pejac revealed his long awaited London solo show for a private viewing. Installed as a popup at the Londonewcastle Project Space on Redchurch Street, Law of the Weakest included around 30 pieces created in the last couple of months exclusively for this event. Previews: Cinta Vidal – “Gravities” @ Thinkspace

This Saturday night (July 23rd) in Thinkspace’s project room, Cinta Vidal will be unveiling a new series of paintings featuring her signature gravity-defying imagery. When you look architectural structures that the Spanish artist paints, you will quickly see the inhabitants defy the laws of physics. Upcoming: OSGEMEOS – “Silence of the Music” @ Lehmann Maupin (New York)

Coming up on September 8, OSGEMEOS will be opening their solo show at the 536 West 22nd Street location of Lehmann Maupin in New York. Entitled Silence of the Music, the show will continue the duo’s series of works featuring yellow and brown skinned characters juxtaposed against patterned backgrounds and urban environments. Releases: Ian Francis – “Revolving Cage” Print

Lazarides just announced the release of a new print from Ian Francis (featured) entitled Revolving Cage. The image is taken from a painting he submitted earlier this year for the gallery’s 10 year anniversary show (covered) and features the British artist’s melding of photorealistic and abstract imagery. Available in a run of 100 and sized at 50 cm x 70 cm, the signed and numbered edition costs £175.00 and can be purchased here. Discuss Ian Francis here.

Currently at the New York outpost of Lehmann Maupin, Sunset in My Heart from Japanese artist Mr. will be display through August 12th. For this new body of work, the former protégé of Takashi Murakami has created a series of anime and otaku culture inspired pieces painted on distressed and sullied canvases, accented by graffiti. Previews: Pejac – ‘Law of the Weakest’ Pop-Up Show (London)

Law of the Weakest, the first major solo exhibition by Spanish artist Pejac, opens this Friday, 22 July in London. Releases: Finok – “Afogando Mágoas (Drowning Sorrows)” Print

A few days ago, Raphael Sagarra aka Finok self-released his latest limited edition. Combining giclee and silkscreen, the Brazilian artist produced Afogando Mágoas (Drowning Sorrows) in an edition of 140 + 20 AP’s. The image is a classic example of Finok’s signature works – using dominating green tones, he mixed traditional elements from Brazilian folk art with his playful graffiti-based characters. Depicting a bottle with a face drowning inside surrounded by 5 golden suns, the edition was created on Hahnemuhle 188g  cotton paper measuring 35 cm x 25 cm (13.7 x 9.8 inches approx), and is […]
