Art Los Angeles Contemporary ’10 – Regen Projects & Galerie Klosterfelde

Los Angeles’s own Regen Projects shared a single room with Galerie Klosterfelde from Berlin at the Art Los Angeles Contemporary fair.  The two galleries brought out fantastic pieces from their stable of superstars, including a cluster of drawings by Raymond Pettibon (pictured above), photos by Wolfgang Tillmans from his Lighter series, a Matthew Barney piece, drawings and a window piece by Lawrence Weiner, a spectacular Lari Pittman painting, a large Catherine Opie photo, and sculptures by the always-challenging German artist John Bock. Preview / Interview: Sarah Joncas – “Shadow Play” @ Roq La Rue Gallery

Canadian artist, Sarah Joncas, is set to open her show “Shadow Play” at Seattle’s Roq La Rue gallery this Friday, February 12th. As the title of her show implies, not only will her paintings include the interplay of “shadow” imagery, “play” also references one of her inspirations – film noir and all that comes along with that genre. Teaser: Linnea Strid – “Fresh” Group Show @ Thinkspace

A promising new artist that we have been keeping our eye on, Linnea Strid, is participating in a great group show this weekend at Thinkspace. The Swedish painter, who has so far impressed collectors with her realistic rendering of water and glass, will join a a group of talented young artist including Josie Morway, Dabs Myla, Wesley Burt, Jacub Gagnon, John Park, and Craig ‘Skibs’ Barker. Preview: Phillips de Pury Contemporary Art Evening and Day Sales

AM continues its coverage of the London February Auctions (see our Christie’s preview) with a look at Phillips de Pury’s Contemporary Art Evening and Day Sales (February 12 – 13 2010). Overall, there are fewer outstanding pieces available here than at Christie’s or Sotheby’s, however there are still many fantastic, iconic pieces up for grabs, including several Basquiats, a strong Banksy, an early Kaws set, and a fabulous Ai Weiwei triptych (above).
