Streets: Mar-1 / RAD Napa Project

Following up our previous coverage of the RAD Napa project (curated by Thinkspace and sponsored by The Napa Valley Wine Train), we now have photos from something Mars-1 (featured) painted recently. Creating a mural from his Infinite Tapestry series next to the railroad tracks, the Bay Area-based artist wove multiple globes of his bubbles together on the two part wall. Kris Kuksi x US Marine Corps – “Battles Won” Sculptures

At the end of last year, Kris Kuksi revealed a series of three sculptures he worked on for the United States Marine Corps as part of their recruitment campaign. The Battles Won set features bronzes entitled Nation’s Call, Waged In Will, and the nearly seven feet tall At Their Core (seen in more detail here), which were later donated to the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Virginia where they can be viewed. Currently in Hong Kong, Mark Ryden (interviewed) has a striking new sculptural piece on view in the foyer of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Entitled Dodecahedron–Quintessence 132, the twelve-faced piece features symbolic imagery on each side including the all-seeing eye that the Lowbrow artist is known for. Onejessa recently completed a rooftop mural on top of the Hibernian House in Sydney’s CBD. The piece is a larger than life reproduction of a mixed media piece from her latest collection Violent Harmonies that will be exhibited starting the 14th of March at M2 gallery. Using diverse painting techniques, the Australian artist constructs opulent assemblages of collages which are sometimes immortalized inside transparent resin. Recap: Cai Guo-Qiang – “Color Mushroom Cloud” @ University of Chicago

Earlier this month, Cai Guo-Qiang launched one of his explosive new works in Chicago that he entitled Color Mushroom Cloud. Realized at exactly December 2, 3:25pm CST, the timing of the 75 meter tall piece coincided with the 75th year anniversary of the first controlled, self sustained nuclear chain reaction at the same location at the University of Chicago. At the end of September, the people behind POW! WOW! Hawaii held their event celebrating culture, music and art in a new country – South Korea. Releases: Okuda x Flamingo – Sunglasses

Spanish artist Okuda recently collaborated with Flamingo to design a pair of sunglasses featuring his distinctive aesthetic. The shaded spectacles (available here for 95.00€) feature the prolific street artist’s signature colors & patterns on the frames.
