This year’s NuArt Festival was certainly a special one – their 15th year running – which means it must be one of the longest running street art events in the world. Openings: “OUTSIDEIN” @ ArtCenter College of Design

Last week, OUTSIDEIN opened at the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena with contributions from artists Olivia Bevilacqua, David Flores, Chase, Robbie Conal, Cryptik, Jeanne Detallante, Shepard Fairey, James Jean, Geoff McFetridge, Kenny Scharf, RISK and Jeff Soto. The exhibition was dedicated to the art of graffiti-based mural painting and hence featured murals painted inside as well as outside by the participants. Almost precisely one year since his debut show with the gallery, Todd James recently returned to Tokyo for his latest solo with Nanzuka Gallery titled Fly Like The Wind. Thursday night, the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena will be opening OUTSIDEIN, an indoor and outdoor exhibition that is focused graffiti-based mural painting. Along with the wall painted by RISK that we showed you a few weeks back, artists Olivia Bevilacqua, David Flores, Chase, Robbie Conal, Cryptik, Jeanne Detallante, Shepard Fairey, James Jean, Geoff McFetridge, Kenny Scharf, and Jeff Soto have also made contributions. Coming up on November 7th, James Jean (interviewed) will be opening a solo show in Tokyo at the Hidari Zingaro Gallery. With this being the last week of the Invisible College group exhibition at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, now would be a good time for a recap. Co-curated by Andrew and Shawn Hosner of Los Angeles’ Thinkspace Gallery and Josef Zimmerman from the museum, the title references the fact that many of the artists on the roster didn’t take a traditional art education path to where their careers are now.
