Previews: Pejac – ‘Law of the Weakest’ Pop-Up Show (London)

Law of the Weakest, the first major solo exhibition by Spanish artist Pejac, opens this Friday, 22 July in London. Installs: Ai WeiWei “F Lotus”, Vienna

In his continuing effort to raise awareness about the refugee crisis, Ai Weiwei recently installed a new piece at Vienna’s Belvedere Palace as a part of his first solo exhibition in Austria, translocation – transformation. Titled F Lotus the piece consists of 201 rings with 5 life jackets on each, floating like lotus flowers and forming a big letter F. After installing 14,000 jackets on the columns Konzerthaus Berlin of in Berlin in February (covered), the Chinese artist once again wanted to bring attention to what is happening on the shores of EU. Releases: Finok – “Afogando Mágoas (Drowning Sorrows)” Print

A few days ago, Raphael Sagarra aka Finok self-released his latest limited edition. Combining giclee and silkscreen, the Brazilian artist produced Afogando Mágoas (Drowning Sorrows) in an edition of 140 + 20 AP’s. The image is a classic example of Finok’s signature works – using dominating green tones, he mixed traditional elements from Brazilian folk art with his playful graffiti-based characters. Depicting a bottle with a face drowning inside surrounded by 5 golden suns, the edition was created on Hahnemuhle 188g  cotton paper measuring 35 cm x 25 cm (13.7 x 9.8 inches approx), and is […]

Releases: Kevin Cyr – “4 Queens” Print

Kevin Cyr recently released a print through Dynamo Editions entitled 4 Queens in a low edition of 25 featuring some of his signature distressed and graffiti covered vehicles.  Interestingly enough as you can see from the photos below, the van started blank before the Brooklyn-based artist starts his hand embellishing process. The print is sized at 16 x 20″ and costs $375 here for those interested in adding it to their collection. Discuss Kevin Cyr here.

Upcoming: “Luminosity & Dust” @ beinArt Gallery

On July 23rd, beinArt Gallery in Brunswick will be opening a new four person show entitled Luminosity & Dust. The nice mix of surreal imagery that will be on display includes Casey Weldon’s hyper chromatic & cinematic paintings (seen above), Gerard Greer’s bone assemblages, Peter Gric’s humanoid-mechanical hybrids, and Rodrigo Luff’s lush psychedelic nudes. Recap: Seth – “Range Ta Chabre” @ Teatro India (999 Contemporary)

As previously reported, on the 7th of July, after two months of participating in 999 Foundation’s Artist Resistance Residency in Rome, Seth aka Julien Malland opened his solo show entitled Range Ta Chambre (Clean Up Your Room). Placed in an abandoned soap factory, the exhibition turned out to be quite an experience. Streets: Nychos (Rhode Island)

This week in Providence, Nychos continued his hectic schedule with a snow leopard mural for the INFLUX public art festival put on by The Avenue Concept. The nonprofit organization working to bring sustainable public art to Rhode Island welcomed in the Austrian artist (with the help of INOPERAbLE) to paint his distinctive cartoonish dissected imagery for the project concentrated in two locations – downtown Providence and the “Cultural Corridor” between Classical and Central High Schools.
