Preview: Damien Hirst – “The Souls” @ Paul Stolper Gallery

It’s become more than apparent now that Damien Hirst has  a thing for the fragile beauty of butterflies.  They will completely take over his next show “The Souls”, which will feature 120 vibrant foilblock butterfly prints.  The exhibition in total is made up of 4 butterflies, in 80 different colourways, each one in an edition of 15 and rumored to cost £3,000 each.  Flutter over to Paul Stolper Gallery starting Oct 7 to check them out. Live Painting: ProjectRoom with Jaybo, Remi/Rough & Juice 126

London’s first Projectroom event took place last night, with out-of-town organiser Jaybo inviting locals Remi/Rough and Juice 126 to collaborate in a live painting event. The three artists each took a canvas to start work on individually – Remi and Jaybo working directly on the wall and Juice getting all primeval by working barefoot on the floor. Extensive traveler and artist Charlie Isoe opened his show “Silver Spoons and Hotel Rooms” this weekend at the Rathbone Place location for Lazarides Gallery. He works loosely, focusing on human and anthropomorphic animals that draw attention to a side of all of us that we perhaps do not want to face. Interviews / Preview: Ana Bagayan – “Flutter” @ Mondo Bizzarro Gallery

Ana Bagayan should need no introduction to regular readers of AM, her stunning portraiture and contemporary figurative work being a regular feature here as her work continues to evolve with each and every new show. Entitled “Flutter”, Ana’s latest solo exhibition and her first body of work to be shown overseas, opens this weekend on Saturday 8th May at Rome’s Mondo Bizzaro Gallery. Teaser: Ana Bagayan “Flutter” @ Mondo Bizzarro Gallery

Following on from her recent showing with Roq La Rue Gallery in Seattle last year (covered), the talented Ana Bagayan’s next exhibition, “Flutter” opens on Saturday, May 8th at Mondo Bizzarro Gallery in Rome. This will be Ana’s first overseas showing, and promises a captivating series of oil paintings and drawings. The painting pictured above is the title piece for the show. Take a look at a couple of close up views and breathe in the beautiful detail after the jump.

Openings: Usugrow – “Hasadhu, In The Night Before a Storm” @ StolenSpace

After curating a series of Shinganist shows, Japanese urban artist Usugrow opened his own solo show last week at the StolenSpace Gallery with a collection of paintings, figures, and photographs.
