At the end of last month, the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. unveiled a portrait of actor Kevin Spacey painted by Jonathan Yeo that will be on view through October. The event featured an appearance by Yeo as well as Spacey in character as Frank Underwood in his role for Netflix’s hit series House of Cards, marking the first time a fictional president had a painting of them hung in the portrait gallery of the institution (although not in the hall of real presidential portraits). Streets: Blu Buffing His Own Murals In Bologna

After buffing his murals in Berlin back in December 2015, protesting against gentrification of the area, Blu just started erasing all of his murals in Bologna. Backed up by his friends from the XM24 and Crash collectives, many murals were destroyed over night and more are being deleted today. Opening last week, Camille Rose Garcia’s Animus Chrysalis Mortis takes viewers to vibrant and lush gardens while exploring many of life’s tropes including creation and death. There is no subtlety with the LA-based artist’s journey, as seen through the lens of an acid trip seemingly lit by black lights. The exhibition features mixed media paintings on board and smaller pieces on paper. Damien Hirst – “Pharmacy 2” Restaurant

After collaborating with restaurants in the past by incorporating his artwork into the decor, Damien Hirst has taken things to a whole new level. A new eatery was open last month by the British artist (in partnership with Mark Hix) at the Newport Street Gallery in Vauxhall, London. During the day, the restaurant serves visitors of the ongoing exhibitions while at night, it feeds diners when the gallery is closed. On March 20th, Joao Ruas will be releasing a print set entitled The Rites of Spring. Inspired by Igor Stravinsky’s masterpiece Le Sacre du Printemps, the limited editions will be available at 8:31AM (PST) the exact moment of the Vernal Equinox on the Northern Hemisphere. Last month Slow Culture moved from LA’s Highland Park to Chinatown, and on March 4th, they opened the PDFW: Performance. Drawing. Film. Writing. group show by THE DFW crew. After painting the impressive Kaos Temple few months ago in Spain (covered), Okuda San Miguel recently got an opportunity to paint another place of worship, with the result being pretty impressive. Located in Youssoufia, Morocco, the church was completely covered with the imagery of the prolific Spanish artist for the Street Art Caravane event. The finished work titled 11 Mirages to the Freedom consists of 11 main characters that are incorporated in the architectural sections of the building itself. After successfully painting what was billed as the world’s largest outdoor mural (covered) for last year’s NuArt Festival, French artists Ella & Pitr recently returned to Norway to create couple of new pieces in and around Stavanger. This time, they painted another giant in the center of the city, taking a tumble in a dilapidated four-story building. Previews: Will Cotton @ Orlando Museum of Art

This Saturday, March 12th, the Orlando Museum of Art will be opening a show featuring the sugary work of Will Cotton. The exhibition from the American painter known for his subjects adorned with desserts will feature oil paintings, preparatory drawings and sculptures revealing different stages of his creative process.
