Showing: Lisa Yuskavage @ David Zwirner

David Zwirner in New York is currently showing recent paintings and pastels from Lisa Yuskavage at their 533 West 19th Street location. Inspired by hippies and her experiences growing up in the 70s, the locally-based painter has produced a vibrant new body of work that for the first time includes men in her portraiture. Known for her intensely hued renderings of nude voluptuous women, Yuskavage provocative new work does not disappoint, especially her larger pieces that seem to be set in a fantasy world. Head over for […]

Showing: Jenny Morgan – “All We Have Is Now” @ Driscoll Babcock Galleries

Currently at Driscoll Babcock Galleries in New York, All We Have Is Now is on display from Jenny Morgan. The series of paintings utilizing vivid oversaturated colors are striking in their raw honesty and emotive value. Based thematically on her thoughts on life, death, and rebirth, the new work shows the NYC-based artist skills while deftly alternating between stark portraiture and surreal imagery. On July 30th, Josh Keyes (interviewed) will be returning to the Antler Gallery in Portland for another showing (see 2014). If this glimpse into the new body of work is any indication, the locally-based artist has further refined his new aesthetic that takes his imagery all the way to the edge of the panels he paints on. This new 12 x 18″ piece is entitled Quake, and has us excited to see the fresh set of works when the exhibition opens. Discuss Josh Keyes here.
