Basel Week Miami ’18 / Releases: James Joyce @ Juxtapoz Clubhouse

As a part of this year’s Juxtapoz Clubhouse program at Basel Week Miami, James Joyce will be signing and selling his two newest limited edition prints at the main location (200 E Flagler). The two images are new variants of his iconic clown-smiley face series that eventually became one of the most recognizable images from Banksy’s Dismaland project a few years back. Currently at Grimm Gallery’s New York location, Eric White has two bodies of work on view on the upper and lower levels of the space entitled Triage & Relics respectively. Seven oil paintings and an installation are on display upstairs, three of them massive paintings of the same scene from different cinematographic angles. Releases: Henrik Haven – “Perspective” Prints

Contributing photographer and curator, Henrik Haven, was recently invited to create a series of prints by Pos Prints in Oslo. The three images he chose draw from his experience of extensively documenting street artists and their craft. Perspective 1 features a detail view of a mural by Ben Slow (seen above), Perspective 2 features a progress shot of Askew One, while Perspective 3 features a progress shot of Lonac. The 50 x 70 cm editions (of 12) can be purchased here for €175 each if you so desire.

Releases: Mark Ryden – “Santa Worm” Print

Just in time as a stocking stuffer, Mark Ryden (interviewed) will be releasing a new print on December 6th (9 AM PST) through Porterhouse Fine Art Editions. Created in a run of 999, the limited edition die cut and embossed miniature is a replica of the renowned artist’s Santa Worm painting. Last week in Bangkok, Felipe Pantone unveiled an immersive installation at the Siam Center entitled W3-DIMENSIONAL Park. For his first showing in Thailand, the Argentinian-Spanish artist created a sculptural representation of his special form of glitch effects and optical art that transports viewers into the digital world. The title of the piece references the three dimensional aspect of the World Wide Web (divs, tables, and iframes) and includes four original pieces that are part of some recent projects. Although in Miami for his now open show (covered), Vhils (interviewed) also has something going on for his fans at home. Tomorrow, December 5th at 4pm GMT, the Lisbon-based artist will be releasing some editions through the Underdogs Gallery webstore that celebrates one of his favorite public artworks (which has now been demolished) in the capital city. Thursday night in Tokyo, Hajime Sorayama took his signature fembots to the next level with a 39-foot-tall sculpture that took center stage for Dior’s pre-fall 2019 menswear show, towering over the laser-lit catwalk. Creative director Kim Jones’ second collection for the European luxury goods company follows in the artistic footsteps of his debut effort where he tapped KAWS to create a 32-foot-tall statue made of flowers for the Spring/Summer 2019 campaign.
