Releases: James Jean – “Max Pipe” Print

James Jean (interviewed) will be releasing another signed and numbered time-limited print on November 14th, starting at 8 AM PST and ending after 24 hours. Entitled Max Pipe, the image is inspired by the painting Attirement of the Bride (La Toilette de la mariée) by Max Ernst. The enhancements (foil stamping, holographic foil, embossments) and dies required for this edition makes it one of Jean’s most complex offerings to date. Earlier today Banksy set up a street tea party in front of The Walled Off Hotel in Bethlehem, Palestine (covered), “celebrating” tomorrow’s 100 years anniversary of the Balfour Declaration. The infamous artist already addressed the important role of Great Britain in the ongoing Middle East conflict at the hotel’s museum, and couldn’t miss an opportunity to remind the world about it on this big day. James Jean – “The Shape Of Water” Poster

Recently, James Jean (interviewed) revealed the artwork he finished for a new movie from Guillermo del Toro – The Shape Of Water. The romantic horror film centers around a mute janitor who falls in love with an amphibious man, a scenario captured perfectly by Jean’s artistic vision. Continuing his long time collaboration with Prada, James Jean (interviewed) has followed up his recent work on their 2018 Resort Collection (covered) with work on their SS 2018 Collection. Those of you who remember seeing the September 2016 issue of Juxtapoz may recognize this image from James Jean (interviewed) that will be released as a print soon. Upcoming: Joe Ledbetter // IKEA Art Event 2018

Joe Ledbetter recently revealed images of his upcoming collaboration with IKEA featuring his iconic Mr. Bunny character. The limited edition glass rendition of his famous furry friend was created with the help of  the Målerås glass factory in southern Sweden and will be part of the IKEA Art Event, the fourth of its kind (seen 2017’s event featuring posters). As we mentioned before, James Jean (interviewed) has a live and work space in West LA near Little Osaka. Called Hide Out, the house has already won multiple awards including the A+ Award from Architizer and the Honor Award for Residential Adaptive Reuse from AIA LA. Openings: “Flourish” @ Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum

Over the weekend, the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum in Arizona hosted the opening of Flourish, a group show curated by Thinkspace Gallery. Over 100 artists contributed to the exhibition but the standouts for us were the murals from Esao Andrews and Nosego as well as a sweet hanging installation from Felipe Pantone.
