Streets: Telmo Miel x James Bullough (Berlin)

Spending a week together in Berlin, Telmo Miel and James Bullough worked on a stunning new piece (located Bernburger Straße 35) that blends the work of the street artists together perfectly. Painting the large wall for the Berlin Mural Fest with the “Unity” concept proposed by Urban Nation in mind, the Dutch duo mixed their patchy & segmented imagery with the locally-based Bullough’s glitchy portraiture in a way the matches their styles up amazingly well. Releases: James Jean x Staple – “Washizu” (Bone White Colorway)

If you missed out on the original release of James Jean’s (interviewed) Washizu figure last year, here’s your chance at the second iteration. Basel Week HK’18 / Openings: James Jarvis – “The Waste Man” @ Aishonanzuka Gallery

On display through April 28th in Hong Kong at Aishonanzuka Gallery, The Waste Man is the latest exhibition from James Jarvis (interviewed). Known for his commercial work as a designer as well as a fine artist, his comics-style imagery (often humorous) is influenced by “philosophy, alternate realities, minimalism and skateboarding.” The show mainly consists of drawings of his signature character, something the British works on quite frequently, as well as a few larger gestural pieces on canvas. After an earlier peek at the exquisite stain glass works for James Jean’s (interviewed) solo opening tomorrow night (April 6th) in Tokyo at Kaikai Kiki Gallery, here are some more tantalizing looks at the new body of work entitled Azimuth. Releases: James Jean x Defonce – Custom Chocolate Bar

James Jean (interviewed) recently announced the release of a collaborative product with Defonce Chocolatiers that feature his artworks and design. The custom bar features cannabis-infused white chocolate splashed with Rosé champagne and showered with pistachios and strawberries. On April 6th, James Jean (interviewed) will be opening a new show in Tokyo at Kaikai Kiki Gallery. Continuing to work with Takashi Murakami to present his work to Japanese collectors (see 2015), the American artist has prepared a series of new works collectively entitled Azimuth. Releases: James Jean – “The Shape of Water” Print

Currently, James Jean (interviewed) has a time-limited print on release until 7:59 AM PST on Wednesday, January 31st. The Shape of Water was created for the award winning film of the same name with James working directly with Guillermo del Toro to create an image for the official one sheet. Eighteen Gallery in Copenhagen just opened Interior, their first solo show with Todd James, featuring new paintings depicting vibrant indoor spaces. After three exhibitions with the gallery’s “big brother” V1 gallery, the NYC-based artist presented his latest body of work in their clean white cube space in the former meatpacking district, ranging from smaller studies on paper, to massive, billboard size canvases.
