Nuart 2017 / Murals (Part II)

We’re wrapping our reporting from Nuart festival 2017 with the 2nd part of the recap of all the public works created through Stavanger for this year’s event. These pieces make it obvious that Nuart decided to challenge the common idea of “street art” by inviting both the veterans as well as young blood, in order to present a diversity of possibilities and approaches when creating public art. One of the artists that definitely pushed that idea far beyond what’s familiar was Igor Ponosov with his Too […]

Nuart 2017 / “Rise Up!” group show @ TOU scene

As we previously mentioned, this year’s Nuart Festival was focused on artist that stand out with their public work in the way they interact with the observers, rather than create images from their visual language. Featuring works by all the participating artists hailing from 10 countries, this presentation once again showed how unique this event is on the global scale. Giving these artist an opportunity to […]

Underdogs Gallery and their bands of renegade curators have put their heads together once again to bring the great city of Lisbon another stellar group show entitled Soma. On display were a collection of politically charged works from the always innovative ±MaisMenos± to the traditional ornate tile collage of Add Fuel. Add to that, a handful of others all pulling their weight including AkaCorleone and his  kaleidoscope of color,  Maria Imaginário’s whimsical work, and Mário Belém’s intricate layered wood, and lets not forget the illustration based works of Pedro Matos and […]

Showing: “Timeline” @ Underdogs Gallery

The year is coming to a close and as with any year’s passing we tend to stop and reflect. In doing so, we can certainly say this was the year of the Underdogs. And by Underdogs, we mean a band of art activists turning Lisbon upside down with one large scale mural project after another, rivaling cities five times its population. The year ending show at the Underdogs Gallery appropriately titled TIMELINE takes pause to celebrate not only the year’s incredible accomplishments, but the the marking of […]
