On October 2nd, Andenken Gallery in Amsterdam will be showing Terrain, a solo show by Evan Hecox. With this new body of work, the Denver-based artist is experimenting with more abstract forms and imagery as well as different mediums including acrylic paint, ink, gouache, collage to watercolor or colored pencil. The pieces are loosely based on the flags, so the artist is referring to them as such with titles like Community Flag or Desert Flag. Upcoming: Pryce Lee – “Ceasefire” @ The Garage

After seeing Pryce Lee unveil a diverse body of work in Italy earlier this year (covered), we look in anticipation at his upcoming exhibition Ceasefire at The Garage. Situated in a 17th century carriage house in the canals of Amsterdam, the gallery will kick off their their new season of shows, “The Salon Sessions,” with new pieces from the UK-based artist including his iconic mirror-based works. As we previously shared with you, KAWS currently has three sculptures set up in a public space around south Amsterdam. As a part of this year’s ArtZuid 2015 project, the NY-based artist was given one of the most prestigious locations for an iteration of his Along The Way sculptures, previously seen at his show with Mary Boone Gallery (covered). Foundation ArtZuid is currently finishing organizing 2015 edition of their International Sculpture Route in Amsterdam. ArtZuid is an open air sculpture biennial with this year’s route consisting of about 73 monumental outdoor sculptures placed through the Berlage’s Art Deco district in Amsterdam South, just outside the city center. Berlin-based Clemens Behr opens a solo exhibition this week at Amsterdam’s Mini Galerie entitled Small Works. Ludo (interviewed) recently spent a few days in Amsterdam, leaving his mark around the city and its canals. Pasting mostly skull based pieces, the Paris-based artist left some familiar images as well as introduced few new concepts. As seen in the photos, the works were done around the Jordaan neighborhood of the city, an area already known for great street art. For the newest edition of the Amsterdam Light Festival showing through January 18th, the four person Romania-based architecture collective visualSKIN have created a stunning installation entitled Ghost Ship. Projecting the image of a 17th century onto two perpendicular curtains of weather, the piece references the rich maritime history of Netherlands’ capital city. Recap: Graphic Surgery – “Contra” @ Mini Galerie

Recently, Mini Galerie in Amsterdam put together a showing from Graphic Surgery with works staying true to their aesthetic of diagonal lines, geometric shapes and a mostly B&W color scheme. The locally-based duo (Erris Huigens and Gysbert Zijlstra) have certainly made their name on the streets with their recognizable murals but display their versatility with this exhibition entitled Contra.
